Browsing/Searching

StoneTrash’s natural language search engine makes it easier than ever to find your perfect tiles or piece of stone. Simply type what you’re looking for and StoneTrash will do the rest! For example, if you are looking for a white marble slab, simply type “white marble slab” and all results that meet your criteria will be presented. You can view all results in your area by initiating a search while the search field is blank.

You may further refine your search by using our advanced filter technology; to open the Advanced Search interface, click the Radius box at the top of your search results. Here, you can change how your results are sorted, redefine your search radius and location point, set your price range, and filter on the following criteria: Remnant Type, Material Name, Manufacturer Name, and Color.

Payments

With the experience of our parent company Continental Marble in mind, we’ve builtStoneTrash from the ground up to make our process as efficient as possible for the end user. Payments are accepted right in the application via Stripe, a secure third-party credit card data aggregator. You can read more about Stripe’s commitment to information security.

Once you’ve found your materials, you will proceed to the Checkout screen. After reviewing and confirming your purchases, you will be prompted to enter your payment information.StoneTrash does not record your information, but transmits it directly to Stripe’s servers via an encrypted protocol. Upon completion of payment, Stripe will take custody of your funds and will hold onto them until you authorize their release via our unique Remnant Confirmation interface.

Finalizing Transactions

After Checkout, your pending order will be available for review under the “My Orders” section of your Dashboard. The original listing is accessible by clicking its information at the top of the page, above the price. In order to arrange for your remnant inspection and shipping/pickup, you will need to initiate a chat with the seller from the original listing page.

In order to protect our buyers, we have implemented a mechanism to prevent sellers from posting fraudulent listings or refusing to release material after payment. Once you’ve completed your purchase, you will have an opportunity to inspect the material before funds are remitted to the seller. After you’ve confirmed that the material presented is not materially different from it’s portrayal in the listing, you may click “Accept Remnant” to approve your items on an individual basis.

In the event that the seller presents material that is not as advertised, you may press “Reject Remnant” to cancel the sale. Stripe will return your funds to the method of payment that you selected at Checkout.

Sales Tax

StoneTrash provides an online marketplace platform, and as a result does not collect or remit sales tax to any state authority. We understand that our users may have tax nexus in their respective states, and may incur a tax liability as a result of transactions generated on the platform. TaxJar is an online provider of automated sales tax calculation whom we have enlisted to provide support for our sellers.

Based on the seller and buyer’s respective tax jurisdictions, as well as the shipping status of an order, TaxJar will return the appropriate amount of sales tax (if any). We use this information to collect sales tax from the buyer on behalf of the seller, but the onus of tax reporting and filing lies squarely in the seller’s hands. Any use tax liability incurred by a buyer on our Platform is treated similarly; as a marketplace,StoneTrash does not report or collect use tax on behalf of any state. For additional information on our sales tax policy, please refer to the Sales Tax section of our Terms of Use (add link)

Shipping and Pickup

StoneTrash allows sellers the flexibility of defining their own shipping radius, as well as a flat fee they are willing to deliver for. If the seller you are purchasing from has selected “0 - Will Not Ship” as their radius, or if you are located outside of their shipping radius (as defined by the center-points of your respective home ZIP codes), you will either have to arrange for pickup or alternative shipping methods. Use the “Chat With Seller” functionality on the Listing Information page to make these arrangements.StoneTrash does not handle or deliver material, and assumes no liability for damaged or delayed shipments.
