Stone Library

There are many choices you'll see when selecting stone material for your project. We've put together a handy list of stone types for easy reference that may help make you select the best material for your project. This list is not exhaustive, but we've listed most of the stone choices you're likely to see.

A Note on Names

Names in the stone and tile industry can be fluid. The same material may have several names. Sometimes sellers will represent marbles as quartzites or marble as granite. It can be a bit confusing. The information we have cataloged here is based on naming conventions from organizations like the Natural Stone Institute and the Stone Fabricators Alliance . We also enlisted the help of some of the leading distributors in the country. We're always looking to improve our catalogue. If you see an error or something missing please let us know and we'll make sure to update our database.
